I was very excited coming out of the movie theater when I saw the first Sherlock Holmes starring the nearly-always likable Robert Downey, Jr. There's an incredibly silly but awesome gunfight on a train, where Holmes is in drag. The intent is to make the villain's presence felt even when he's not on screen, but we got that in the first movie. The meat of the Sherlock Holmes franchise is quip-laced action, and Game of Shadows mostly delivers on that. Its a highly enjoyable battle of wits between Holmes and Professor Moriarty. He's the only person on the planet who can challenge the great detective and A Game of Shadows makes a poor play by shuffling him off to the side. A GAME OF SHADOWS provides almost non-stop action. But the real crime is wasting Moriarty, because villains can help illuminate our heroes.
